The lads made the long journey to play Monk Fryston in the County Cup.
We looked sluggish from the off & struggled to play any decent football but did look more of a threat than our opponents. We did create a few half chances but time and again we wanted too much time or an extra touch. The Monk Fryston keeper was also on form & pulled off a couple of decent saves.
0-0 at half time
The half time team talk revolved around getting the ball down and start passing the ball better. The lads took it on board and started to dominate the game. We were creating chances & it looked to be just a mater of time before we scored. The break came with some great individual skill from Ryan Clay. He received the ball on the edge of the box, turned inside, beat 2 men as he drove into the box & shot over the diving keeper.
We had a few more chances to put the game to bed but got caught out by a ball over the top. Luke Meadows raced back & managed to get to the striker, he was only running alongside & didn't try to tackle but legs got tangled & the Monk Fryston player went down in the box.
The penalty taker slammed it down the middle as Harry Graham dived to his left. It was a shame for Harry as his display deserved a clean sheet.
We still looked the stronger side & when the ball was laid off to Benj King to the right of the box he hit a screamer past the keeper to make it 2-1.
There was still time for a few hairy moments from corners but the lads kept them out to go through to the next round.
